The single most important event in one’s life
is the revelation of Jesus Christ.
From that point forward life begins to open up.
“It’s Finished” becomes an infinite starting point,
“After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!”And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” – John 19: 28-30
Dare I say it,
we haven’t fully lived until we died and rose again like Christ
We are truly deaf, lame, and blind without the living water
without the bread of presence (showbread)
without the one who was here from the beginning
“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched—this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.”
1 John 1:1
Jesus Christ is truly all one needs in this life. No, Im not saying that people aren’t important. Everything the Lord has made is purposeful, dutiful and functional but these traits aren’t fully actualized until Christ is seen.
Its like we can spend our whole lives searching for something only to realize that what we truly need is right in front of us
Hidden in plain sight
I cant express enough the importance of thirst. To be so thirsty and so desperate for something, for someone outside of yourself, to be so curious enough to question how and what landed you here, at this point, with this family, or job or life, to make sense of the unseen, of the intangible.
I wonder if people just aren’t curious enough. That we have relied so heavily on our wills to think that we are too big, grand and powerful for a just God, that we never question who gave us the strength, who gave us the intellect, who constructed the body?
When people tell me they don’t believe in Jesus whether through true unbelief or bound in tradition or religious piety, or mere circumstance, it grieves me
for to know and not know is a pitiful state
to see and not understand is the equivalent to death
to question and not investigate, to not seek in hopes of finding is all the makings of an early grave.
I do know this …
that there was a man who walked on water and gave up his spirit so that I may have eternal life and maybe the true reason we all are so impervious to the light of Jesus Christ is because we cant fathom forever.
Because life is cumbersome, painful and gruesome, the sheer thought of infinity has turned us into skeptics or at worst, spectators.
However, once a person stumbles upon Jesus Christ, once the spirit draws them to an uncomfortable truth, now made comfortable, something begins to shift.
Death no longer becomes something to fear.
Life no longer becomes something to run from.
Eyes are opened
Ears are unstuck
and hardened hearts are stripped of their iron chains
and then, there is something that begins to happen to the spirit, there becomes an increased awareness
that heaven is not just a place you go after living
but it can occur right here,
right now.
Yes, Heaven has truly come to earth in my life.
The revelation of Jesus Christ is the way back to the garden, to the place called delight.

I hope you will find it one day too…

As the deer pants for the water brooks
So my soul pants for You, O God. – Psalm 42:1
